✍️Royal Commission into AUKUS now

AUKUS_RC_thumbnail.png

We helped organise a public inquiry that found AUKUS is “the worst, most costly and riskiest defence decision ever made by Australian governments.”

But we didn't have the power to compel documents, sworn testimony or answers from the politicians who struck this deal in secret. Only a Royal Commission can truly expose AUKUS out into the open where it’s politically untenable for the government to ignore.

✍️Sign the petition for a Royal Commission into AUKUS now.

The AUKUS security pact is supposed to make us safe. But we're forking out $368 billion to hand control over to Trump's America. We're not guaranteed a single submarine. Our communities will host America's weapons-grade waste. And we'll become a first strike target in a US/China war.

We can still get out of AUKUS. But we need to act now before it's too late.

A Royal Commission can bring the pitfalls of this disastrous deal to light.

Because Australians deserve answers and a future beyond AUKUS where we call our own shots, not take orders from Washington.

Experts and politicians on the dangers of AUKUS

    • "We're writing the cheques. We're taking the most risk. But we are the least curious and the least informed. And whether you like AUKUS or not – that is a disgrace." – Malcolm Turnbull
    • "AUKUS represents the worst defence decision since we relied on Britain to protect us in World War II." – Major General Michael G Smith AO (Ret'd)
    • "Australia is spending an eye-watering amount to build a capability to defend us from a military threat which in fact is most likely to arise because we have that capability." – Prof. Hon. Gareth Evans AC KC FASSA FAIIA, Former Minister for Foreign Affairs
    • "So many questions, so few answers. The Australian public deserve more than Cold War rhetoric to justify the mind-boggling expenditure associated with acquiring second-hand, and yet to be designed attack class, nuclear propelled submarines." – Doug Cameron, former ALP Senator

To Prime Minister Anthony Albanese,

Australia is losing under the AUKUS security pact. The costs are spiralling, the benefits are unclear and we are surrendering our sovereignty to an increasingly volatile America. Two-thirds of Australians want greater scrutiny of AUKUS.

We call on you to establish a Royal Commission to conduct an independent investigation into how the AUKUS deal was made, how it is being implemented and whether it serves Australia’s best interests.
