Over the next three years Australia, the world's third-largest fossil fuel exporter, must recalibrate its climate policy approach. The science is clear: we must reduce fossil fuel consumption AND enhance carbon sequestration in our forests and landscapes.
The economic path is equally straightforward: we must cease the $12 billion annual fossil fuel subsidies, impose taxes on the industry as we phase it out, and establish a national strategy for renewable energy, storage, and infrastructure development.
