Green light for Rinehart-backed gas wells
There’s no way to sugar coat this.
Tanya Plibersek has just given the greenlight for a Gina Rinehart-backed company to build 151 new coal seam gas wells.
It’s the last thing our climate needs.
While the nation is distracted by Peter Dutton’s nuclear charade, our federal government continues to approve new fossil fuel projects that will operate until almost 2070, gambling away our future.
We cannot fight global warming by building new coal mines and gas pipelines.
That’s why we need your help. As we head to the next election, it’s clear we need to redouble our efforts to put pressure on the government to stop apprvoving new fossil fuel projects and make the industry pay its fair share of tax.
Will you donate to The Australia Institute to keep public pressure on the government and the gas industry?
Thanks to five generous donors including the Hackett Foundation, from now until 30 June, every gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar until we reach out fundraising target - doubling your impact.
