Politics in the Pub: Katy Gallagher
We're excited to announce that Senator Katy Gallagher will be joining us for Politics in the Pub, 6pm Thursday 23rd June.
A Labor Senator for the Australian Capital Territory, Katy Gallagher is also a former Chief Minister of the ACT.
As ACT Treasurer, Katy Gallagher helped steer the ACT through the global financial crisis, delivering record levels of capital works in 2009-10 which has supported jobs and economic activity through the worst of the slow down.
In December 2014 Katy resigned as Chief Minister to take up a casual vacancy in the Senate to replace Kate Lundy, and has elevated been elevated to the Federal Labor frontbench, taking up responsibility as Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Shadow Minister for Housing and Homelessness and Shadow Minister Assisting the Leader on State and Territory Relations.
Katy has a strong connection to Canberra having grown up in the national capital and undertaking her schooling and tertiary education in the ACT. Katy currently lives in Canberra's northern suburbs with her partner, three children and dog.
