Politics in the Pub: David & Emma Pocock
David Pocock is a professional rugby player with the ACT Brumbies and the Wallabies. He co-founded the community development organisation EightyTwenty Vision, working in his native Zimbabwe. David has a real passion for conservation, and a keen interest in the intersection of agriculture, conservation and community development. Alongside his rugby commitments, he is currently undertaking a Bachelor in Ecological Agriculture.
Emma Pocock has a background in community development and women’s studies. Emma has worked on community projects from Zimbabwe to the New South Wales south coast and is currently working at the Australia Institute.
Emma and David have been involved in several campaigns together, including opposing the Whitehaven Coal mine in the Leard State Forest (and getting arrested). Last year, they spent six months living in Zimbabwe facilitating conservation and community development projects.
