Politics in the Pub: Shane Rattenbury
Join us for what will sure to be an interesting and informative Politics in the Pub with ACT Greens Minister, Shane Rattenbury, on the thought provoking topic 'Courage and Community.'
In 2008, Shane was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the electorate of Molonglo, and became the first Greens Speaker of a parliament anywhere in the world. As the Greens Spokesperson on Climate Change and Environment and Attorney-General, he worked to secure an ambitious climate change target and campaigned for equal marriage rights.
Shane was re-elected to the Assembly in 2012 and appointed as the first ACT Greens Minister, taking on key portfolios such as Territory and Municipal Services and Education. In that time, Shane Rattenbury has been integral to driving and delivering some of the biggest reforms Canberra has ever seen –- from leading the nation on climate action, to our world-class renewable energy targets, to changing the conversation on light rail.
