The ABC is one of Australia's great pieces of accountability infrastructure.
The ABC protects and strengthens our democracy with its free, fair, and independent reporting. It is also what keeps us safe in times of emergency, during bushfires, floods and the pandemic it is the ABC that most Australians turn to.
Australia Institute research consistently shows that the ABC is the most trusted source of news in the country. An overwhelming majority of Australians support more funding for the ABC to reflect its emergency broadcaster role.
The ABC’s triennial funding agreement ends soon.
The ABC is at risk of a further funding cut or indexation freeze in the next Federal Budget. Any attack on our public broadcaster is an attack on our democracy.
Add your name to urge our political leaders to restore ABC funding in the Federal Budget.
Dear Political Leaders—
The ABC protects and strengthens Australia's democracy with its free and independent public interest journalism.
Australia Institute research consistently shows the ABC is Australia’s most trusted news source.
Any further ‘indexation freezes’ or funding cuts to the ABC in this year’s Budget would be an attack on our democracy.
We, the undersigned, urge you boost the ABC's funding as an investment in both public broadcasting and Australia's democracy.
