All Tasmanian candidates for the upcoming federal election have been asked to sign on to the open letter to protect the Maugean skate by ending salmon farming in Macquarie Harbour.
Intensive salmon farming is risking the extinction of the endangered Maugean skate in Tasmania’s Macquarie Harbour, part of Tasmania's Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
What: Political candidates letter sign on
When: 10.15 (for a 10.30am start), Friday, 31 January 2025
Where: Kangaroo Bay Parklands, Clarence Foreshore, Kangaroo Bay Dr, Rosny Park
More than 10,000 Australians have signed the open letter to the Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek, calling on her to prevent the extinction of the Maugean skate by respecting the science and ending salmon farming in Macquarie Harbour.
We need YOU to come along to show the Environment Minister and political candidates they have massive public backing to make the right decision and put protecting one of the world’s most endangered species before the corporate profits of the salmon industry.
Will you come?
