All Tasmanian candidates for the upcoming federal election have been asked to sign on to the open letter to protect the Maugean skate by ending salmon farming in Macquarie Harbour.

Intensive salmon farming is risking the extinction of the endangered Maugean skate in Tasmania’s Macquarie Harbour, part of Tasmania's Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

More than 10,000 Australians have signed the open letter to the Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek, calling on her to prevent the extinction of the Maugean skate by respecting the science and ending salmon farming in Macquarie Harbour.
